Mastering SEO for MLM can certainly help you generate free leads for your home business opportunity. When you can get your content to rank high in the Search Engines, such as Google, Yahoo and Bing as well as the other ones, you can certainly boost your business.

This of course assumes that the content you are ranking is relevant to your target market’s needs.

A lot of people talk about Search Engine Optimization, and a lot of people spread information pertaining to the subject. While a lot of that information is effective in the short term, not all of it goes by the rules of the search engines.

Here’s what you need to understand so you can use Search Engine Marketing to rank your content and generate leads for your Network Marketing Business Opportunity.

This is not a lesson on how Search Engines work, but rather a guide to help you understand what you need to work on so you get your content ranked high up in the Search Engines

As much as it is important to understand in detail, how the Search Engines work, that’s a lesson for another day.

How Search Engines Work: A Brief Overview

Search Engines have programs that crawl the internet, gobbling up content. When they find a piece of content they determine the words on that page. Once they have done that, they determine, using their proprietary algorithms, what words and combinations of words and phrases that page is relevant for.

For each of these words and combination of words, the Search Engines have vast indexes and a copy of your piece of content is placed within each of those indexes.

Within a particular index, the relevance of your piece of content for that particular word or phrase is determined by looking at certain factors. This is how your piece of content gets ranked by the search engines for different keywords and keyword combinations.

This is just a rough overview to help you to understand how the Search Engines work.

SEO For MLM: How People Interact With The Search Engines

When someone searches for information on one of the Search Engines, such as Google or Yahoo, the user enters a keyword or a combination of words. The particular Search Engine scans the relevant index of content, to find relevant content to return to the user. That content is ranked by relevance and each Search Engine has its own formula to determine what‘s relevant for a given user search query.

Across all Search Engines though, there are certain factors that are common in determining whether your content is relevant for a given search term.

Why Search Engines Will Rank Your Content Over Your Competitor

With so many web pages on the internet, the Search Engines are constantly improving their algorithms so that the most relevant search results appear topmost when a person searches for information.

Here we are referring to the organic or naturally occurring Search Engine results, not the paid listings (advertisements that appear as part of the search results on the Search Engines).

You must understand that the majority of the revenue, for Search Engine companies comes from advertising. With that being said, the Search Engine companies need those advertisements to be viewed by large numbers of people. For that reason they need to command a large chunk of the search market.

To do this Search Engines have to be known to deliver relevant content when a user searches for a particular keyword or phrase. That way the Search Engine companies retain their market share, because they deliver exactly what people are looking for, and they provide the most relevant solutions.

It’s for this reason that Search Engines are constantly working to ensure the most relevant content is delivered when a person searches for something. If someone searches for the phrase, “how to generate free MLM leads”, the Search Engines are going to do their best to ensure all returned content is relevant for this exact search term.

If they do not do this they stand to lose searchers, and hence lose out on their market share. This ultimately affects their advertising revenue as people would rather use Search Engines which deliver the search results that will satisfy their query.

SEO Factors That Determine Your Rankings

To get your content ranked high in the SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages) for a particular search term, the Search Engines generally use factors within their algorithms, which fall into two general categories:

  1. On -page SEO factors
  2. Off –page SEO factors.

The On-Page SEO factors are those factors which you have direct control over. These are the factors on the page you want to rank for, and you can influence these directly.

The Off-Page SEO factors are those factors off your website, and in some cases, you have no control over these factors, but you can certainly influence these.

On-Page SEO Factors To Help You Rank Your MLM Blog High In The Search Engines

Certain factors on your web page determine your rankings in the Search Engine results listings for a particular search term. As mentioned previously, you have total control of these factors, and so you should work at improving them.

#1. Site structure

The structure of your website plays a part in influencing your Search Engine rankings. It influences the relevance of each particular page on your site, in relation to your overall website.

Your site structure also influences which pages on your website the Search Engines get to see and eventually index. You should also control which pages the Search Engines see and which they do not.

Broken links on your website have a negative impact on your Search Engine rankings, so it is important that you address these.

#2. Placement of keywords on your page

If you want to rank for a particular key word or phrase, that keyword has to be prominent in certain places on your website. Some of the places that keyword should ideally be found are;

  1. Your URL (Uniform Resource Locator, or the link to your webpage).
  2. The title of your webpage; specifically, your keywords should be placed in the Meta Title.
  3. Within the content of your article. Spread the keyword, as well as varieties, synonyms and related terms within the content. It’s important to note that you do not want to stuff your keywords in your article, as over-optimization will have its own problems from the Search Engines.

Some highlighting of these keywords also goes some way in letting the Search Engines know that your page places particular importance and emphasis on these keywords and phrases. For example, having the keywords highlighted in bold, italicizing or underlining them.

#3. Incoming links from other posts within your website

The anchor text you use to link to your webpage from other pages within your website, tells the Search Engines what this page is relevant for. For example, Generating free leads for MLM tells the Search Engines that the page linked to is relevant for the term, “Generating free leads for MLM”.

This is one of the instances where you have control over the anchor text that you use to link to the particular page: use it wisely.

#4. Speed of your website or blog

The major Search Engines have declared that site speed is a factor that they consider in influencing your Search Engine rankings for particular search terms.

A slow- loading website won’t help you in this regard. A fast-loading website will go a long way in helping you tell the Search Engines that you deserve a high placement in the SERPs.

#5. The time people spend on your Website

I will mention this as part of your “On-Page SEO factors” because this is something you can influence.

By ensuring that your title and your content are congruent and relevant to the subject you are writing about, the chances of people staying longer on your site are greatly improved. If people stay longer on your website after searching for a particular search term , that’s a signal to the Search Engines that your website is relevant for the term that was searched for.

If you have content and a title that’s not relevant for a particular search term, then people will not stay long on your website, as they will go elsewhere for answers.

Improving your copywriting skills goes a long way in helping you write better copy that keeps visitors and prospects on your website longer.

Off-Page SEO Factors That Help You Rank Your Network Marketing Blog

Perhaps an example will illustrate just how important Off-Page SEO factors are to your Search Engine rankings for a particular search term. Go to any of the major Search Engines, Google, Yahoo, Bing, or MSN and search for the term “click here”. You will find the ADOBE website as one of the top listings.

If you visit the ADOBE website however, you will not find any text that says “click here”. Many external websites link to the ADOBE website with the Anchor text “click here” to get people to download the ADOBE software.

From this point, 2 Off-Page SEO factors help determine your rankings for a particular search term;

  1. The number and quality of web pages that link to yours. The more links you have coming to your website, from high-quality websites, the more your rankings rise. Quality, in the eyes of Google, for example, is determined by Page rank, which is determined by Google’s own algorithms.
  2. The anchor text used to link back to your content highlights to the Search Engines what your webpage is relevant for.

As mentioned earlier, you have less direct influence on your Off-Page SEO factors, but that does not mean you cannot influence them at all.

SEO For Network Marketing | Who To Write Content For

Many are of the opinion that you should optimize your content for Search Engine purposes. As much as I agree with that, you need to keep in mind that you are ultimately writing your content for people, and through their actions on your website, they will signal to the Search Engines whether your content is relevant for what they have searched for or not.

For this reason you must primarily write for humans, while pleasing the Search Engines at the same time.

Implement these On-Page and Off-Page SEO factors to your web pages and website and watch your Search Engine rankings improve. This of course assumes you have determined how competitive the search term is that you want to rank your content for.

What other Search Engine ranking factors do you think are necessary to give you high rankings in the Search Engine results for a particular keyword or phrase? Which of the factors above do you find most effective? I would love to know what you think. Please leave me a comment in the section below.
